MY REVIEW
MUSIC AND LYRICS

MAIN CAST:

*Hugh Grant - Alex Fletcher
*Drew Barrymore - Sophie Fisher
*Haley Bennett - Cora Corman

SUPPORTING CAST:
*Brad Garrett - Chris Riley, Alex's manager
*Kristen Johnston - Rhonda, Sophie's older sister
*Campbell Scott - Sloan Cates, Sophie's ex-boyfriend
*Aasif Mandvi - Khan, Alex's tone-deaf doorman
*Scott Porter - Colin Thompson, Alex's bandmate

BRIEF INTRODUCTION:
A bad haircut, a bad fashion style and only one hit song are the only things that people would remember of Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant), an 80's member of disbanded boy band known as the POP. His was seen performing solo in high school reunions and amusement parks. Enter Cora Corman, the newest teenage pop icon and the savior of Alex's not so bright career. He was asked by Cora to write a song and it should be entitled "Way Back Into Love." The only catch is, he should finish it in 48 hours.

While collaborating with a lyricist recommended by his long time manager, his substitute plant caretaker Sophie accidentally rattled lines that are good for the song. He offered Sophie to be his lyricist and Sophie agreed. That was the start of a good songwriting relationship.

MY IMPRESSION:
Positive:
I really like this movie even though for some people this movie is corny. I must say that I'm just a romantic person who loves romantic comedy films such as this. I liked the scene when Sophie was about to walk out of the concert venue when she thought that Alex took all the credits of composing the song all by himself, only to prove herself wrong about it. Alex sang a song he composed all on his own entitled "Don't Write Me Off telling the things that happened between him and Sophie. In the song, he tried to say sorry to Sophie in his own little way. Isn't that sweet??!!!!!

Negative:
Nothing

MY RECOMMENDATION:
This movie is recommended for those who are romantic, in love, young at heart and for those who want to brighten up their day.

9 OUT OF 10 STARS - Excellent

MY REVIEW
FORREST GUMP

STARRING:

* Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump
* Robin Wright Penn - Jenny Curran
* Gary Sinise - Lt Dan Taylor
* Mykelti Williamson - Benjamin Buford "Bubba" Blue
* Sally Field - Mrs. Gump
* Michael Conner Humphreys as Young Forrest Gump
* Hanna R. Hall as Young Jenny Curran

BRIEF INTRODUCTION
"Run Forrest, Run!" the word that always linger on his mind, young Forrest Gump is a sickly boy. He has braces on his legs making him easy targets for bullies. Young Jenny is his only friend who believes in him. Their sweet and innocent childhood friendship will eventually bring them to a relationship where only heaven can separate.

Forrest Gump is a movie based on a 1986 novel with the same title by Winston Groom and direction of veteran and highly respected film maker, Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future Trilogy, Cast Away). Forrest Gump, played by multi Academy award winner actor and director Tom Hanks (Cast Away, Saving Private Ryan), is an athlete, a war veteran, a celebrity, a loving son to a mother, a loving husband to a wife and a loving father to a son. Despite his sickly condition and very low intelligence, Forrest easily enjoys life and be contented on what he has. But everything just came in to his life without forcing any issue. I can say that he is a classic example of what we call: "just do what is right to do and God will do the rest for you".

PLOT
Forrest is waiting at a bus stop in Georgia, when he start telling his life story to his seatmate. Forrest started as a little sickly boy who was denied to enter grade school due to his very low IQ. But Mrs. Gump (Sally Field) insisted that his boy is normal and be considered and treated like the other kids in school. Mrs. Gump did 'everything' to the principal just to accept the enrollment of his little Forrest.Because of his leg braces, Forrest is a subject to bullies but his new friend young Jenny is always there to protect him. But when Forrest was threatened seriously Jenny made a statement that Forrest never forget: "Run Forrest, Run!" and he ran, as fast as he could, braking all those leg braces. And starting that day Forrest found a new weapon to defeat his bullies, RUNNING.

Forrest now a senior student at the University of Alabama, was discover by Coach Paul Bryant when he accidentally ran off the football field with an explosive speed, thus earning his scholarship to play college football and soon became an All American.

He joined the US Army after graduating college and met at the boot camp his new friend in the name of Benjamin Buford "Bubba" Blue (Mykelti Williamson), who introduced shrimping business to Forrest. They talk a lot about shrimp all the time. After boot camp, both were assigned in Vietnam under the command of Lt Dan Taylor (Gary Sinise).

Many events, good and bad happened to Forrest's life during and after the war. He became an athlete, businessman, product endorser, an instant celebrity and eventually a millionaire. But still he does not care at all, the money, the fame, the attention- it's nothing for Forrest. All he wanted to do is to meet the kindest woman in the world next to his mother, JENNY CURRAN (Robin Wright Penn).

MY REACTION
Positive:
I saw this movie so many times but I kept on crying every time I watch the film, the story was excellent. Writer Winston Groom did a very wonderful job in this novel. Tom Hanks portrayed Forrest in a very superb performance, you can see the ignorance on his eyes, the pain he has, the happiness in his face. The special effects used that time are truly excellent when Forrest met JFK and Pres. Johnson. Director Robert Zemeckis professionally extracted from the actors what is really needed to be shown and seen by the audience, very nice and unique approach.

What I really like about the film is that Forrest was never been corrupted by his greed, by his anger. Maybe due to his low IQ, he just let the day pass, do what he is told to do so. Doing the right thing everyday. And everything goes on his way.

Negative:
I have not seen any, maybe there might be any but I don't care, I love the movie and the story excellent, I have no time to look for some disadvantages.

OVER-ALL RATING:
10 out of 10 stars - Excellent

RECOMMENDATION
A must see for everybody, especially to people who sometimes losing his self esteem, just watch this movie. The story might inspire you to live you life and enjoy everything that God has given us.
