In Downtown Los Angeles, a group of professional and well organized criminals led by Neil Macauley (Robert De Niro) is setting up multi million bank robbery before retiring. But Lt Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) and the whole LAPD Robbery - Homicide Division is on their tail plotting their every move. None of them is giving up easily, even to the price of their lives. It is considered as the most impressive collection of actors in one movie including Ashley Judd, Jon Voight, Natalie Portman, Tom Sizemore, Dennis Haysbert and more.
PLOT
Neil McCauley with his four other members, which includes Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer), Michael Cheritto (Tom Sizemore), Waingro (Kevin Cage) and Trejo (Danny Trejo) had just robbed an armored car with an estimated $ 1.6 million of bearer bonds owned by Roger Van Zant (Willian Fitchner). The twist started when Waingro, cold bloodedly killed one of the guards during the heist. McCauley is about to finished off Waingro when the group met in a local diner. But Waingro escapes when the group was interrupted by a passing police patrol car.Now the group is back into the drawing board, planning the what they call "heist of their lives". A $12 million bank robbery. Their last and biggest hit before retiring. But the LAPD Elite Robbery- Homicide Division led by Lt Vincent Hanna is starting to identified the group responsible to the armored car heist. Hanna believes that the suspects are professional and make thorough planning before committing their criminal acts.
And the D-Day has come. Everything has been set. But things did not turned out as what have been planned. Information regarding the heist have leaked in to the police and the frenzy gun battle in downtown Los Angeles transpired. And the HEAT IS ON!
MY REACTION
Positive: This is one of the greatest crime saga of all time! This film offers nothing but pure entertainment and suspense. This might be the father of all crime sagas. The actors are exceptional, having De Niro and Pacino in a film is already a MUST SEE. A lot of nice and spectacular scenes, especially when the two came face to face with each other talking over a cup of coffee about their traveled paths, as if they were long time friends. And the BEST part is, when they say that the next time they will meet, they wont hesitate to shoot or kill each other. And guarantees that surely one of them will be DEAD. Awesome!
Negative: I can't think of any except for those criminals who though they can imitate what they have seen in this film. And they were right, they too ended up - Dead. LOL.
OVER-ALL RATING:
10 out of 10 stars - Excellent
RECOMMENDATION
This is a spectacular movie, Truly an epic and a masterpiece. If you are a lover of films like The Bank Job, Italian Job, Ocean's 11, 12 and 13, definitely you will loved this movie.
